The Risk Assessments were carried out by a visit to the operational site (or project office) and discussions with operations personnel (including facilitation of hazard identification sessions). The Risk Assessment process and reports provide the following; Hazard identification (focused at physical risk to property and equipment); Risk estimation (estimation of consequence and likelihood, especially focused at high impact events with significant potential for Business Interruption); Recommendations for reduction of risk; Provision of risk engineering advice to Rio Tinto operational sites/project teams on any queries raised by them. HATCH ASSOCIATES (formerly BHP Engineering) (1995-2000)
BHP Hot Briquetted Iron – Port Hedland Operations Electrical Engineering Superintendent (on secondment to BHP HBI). Responsibilities covered; Supervision of a team of about 30 people including electrical and instrument engineers, technicians and clerical personnel. Budgeting and cost control ($5M annual operating budget). Management of the operations extensive HV distribution network including approval of HV switching officers and switching programs. Advice to the plant maintenance groups on the requirements for electrical distribution system and electrical machine maintenance. Formulation of the maintenance procedures and practices for the Hazardous Area certified equipment. Management of designated Critical Safety Systems (those with an electrical and instrumented basis).
